Ninth Wave is a surf school and board shop on the beach in Ericeira. After twelve years on a hand-painted sign, the owners wanted a name people could find online and a mark their instructors could spot from the water.
The mark is a single stroke drawn from the shape of a breaking set. It sits on boards, rash vests and the beach flag, so it had to read at forty metres and still work stitched at two centimetres.
The shop runs on a small rental system we built alongside the identity. Boards are listed by conditions rather than by model, so a beginner picks the right one without asking.
